Beginning on November 1, and running through January 31, 2016, Covered California will conduct its annual Open Enrollment period. If you’re wondering what you need to do – or whether you need to do anything at all – read on for answers to some common questions.
I like my current health insurance plan. Do I need to do anything?
Even if you like your current health insurance plan, it’s still a good idea to log onto Covered California and there might be a new one available that you like even more. If you decide to stick with your current policy, you should still update your financial information so that your rates can be calculated correctly.
I was not happy with my current health insurance plan. How can I get one that better suits my needs?
You can log into the Covered California website and find a health insurance plan that best matches your needs.
I’m covered by my employer’s group health insurance plan. Do I need to do anything?
Your health insurance will automatically renew, unless of course your employer announces a change. You don’t have to do anything.
When will I begin making payments?
You should receive your first bill about two weeks after enrolling in your new plan. Make sure to pay attention to the due date on the bill, so that you don’t risk losing your new coverage.
I like my current health insurance plan, but want additional coverage such as family dental. Can I add that to my plan?
In many cases, you might be able to add dental insurance. Contact our office to discuss your family’s needs. We are your one-stop shop for all health insurance-related questions and solutions!
I was covered by a group health insurance plan through my employer, but I lost my job. What do I do?
You will need to apply for health insurance on the Covered California website, so that you will comply with the Individual Mandate part of the new health insurance laws. Or, you can call our office at (951) 676-6000 for more help.
